
Yalitza Castro
Yalitza Castro Martínez is a lawyer specializing in housing law, committed to
supporting and defending families facing economic vulnerability so that
they can keep their homes in Puerto Rico. She combines her private practice with
her work in non-profit organizations that promote access to justice.
She currently serves as Coordinator of the Pro Bono Project for Home Protection
at Pro-Bono, Inc., one of the most recognized entities on the island in the defense
of low-income individuals. She also collaborates with the nonprofit organization
One Stop Career Center of Puerto Rico, where she handles cases related to
housing and foreclosure litigation.
She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and later obtained her Juris Doctor from the
Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law. In 2024, she added to her
education a professional certification in Music Business from the Conservatory of
Music of Puerto Rico. With this academic background, Yalitza Castro Martínez has
integrated another of her great passions: music. A lover of classical music, she seeks to
link her legal work with support for artistic organizations such as Pro Arte
Musical, which promote access to chamber music in Puerto Rico.
As an adult, she entered the world of live orchestral music, discovering classical music and
beginning a musical education that she did not have the opportunity to receive during her
public school education. This approach has not only expanded her love for this art, but has
also deepened her vision of culture as a tool for social transformation.
